What is ghamjitsu

In the late 1800's the Cape had become identified by the slaves who had been infused with white slave owners. I say infused because there is not much record of inter-marrying going on so let's get it right from the start. They were forced to seek work in the rich fishing industry and because they were not allowed or could not afford the ownership duty of a firearm they turned to the knife. As fish gutters or pipemen which later became Pypman which has now taken on many meanings, they had to work with knives many carried it with them all the time and it became their primary means of defense. There is later influence of Native American and Cuban former slaves who were instrumental in starting the first gangs on the Cape Flats one of the first known and most Notorious was the Skull Busters who were the first to use Machetes and Knives in gang fights. They became known as the Atchas pronounced Ahtchahs. This is a local word which came to be known as Apache a warring nation. They would cover their faces with red and black paint it became known chisa pronounced CHYZA to make ugly. They used all the Cape coloured fighting methods and called it Ghamaroo because the gand h made the sound of a spade being dragged on the tar or concrete. Ghamjitsu encompasses the never surrender attitude with the basic common street smarts of an old gangster who has survived to tell the story. Lets learn from the streets.
